Josie Lewis earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Western Michigan University and obtained her Juris Doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School while also working full time. She spent the first 9 years of her career in the banking industry representing mortgage lenders, government sponsored enterprises and various financial investors and trustees.


Josie has extensive litigation experience in a variety of real estate matters on behalf of residential and commercial property owners, investors, landlords, developers and property managers. She has defended multiple property tax foreclosure cases, construction lien foreclosures and worked with many local municipalities relating to code and blight violations and claims under the dangerous building statute. She has represented creditors in hundreds of debt collection cases and landlord tenant matters. She is admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Western and Eastern division and the United States District Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit. Josie has been a guest lecturer for local chapter of the National Association for Legal Professionals and City of Detroit. She also provides pro bono services to domestic violence survivors.


Josie resides downriver and enjoys the many festivals, farmers markets and shopping. She spends most of her free time with her son.
